Introducing For the People and Kids!

By Jessica M. Colรณn, Founder FTPK October 13, 2020

As a parent, I know first hand the struggles of remote learning and the gaps it leaves in our kids’ day. Our older kids finish way too quickly and our little ones have a hard time sitting through it. For the People and Kids (FTPK) aims to fill in those gaps by providing a fun alternative using the S.T.R.E.A.M educational approach. By using Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics as access points, our team guides kids' inquiries, dialogues, and critical thinking. FTPK is comprised of Museum Educators, who have been brought together due to the closing of museums during COVID-19. We each have our own unique lessons to bring virtually to your homes and deliver to your kids.

Join one of our Seed Pods, where our expert team of Educators employ project-based learning that crosses all six disciplines. They foster an inclusive learning environment where all kids can engage and contribute.

We are launching our Seed Pods this month starting with:

Science Pod#1: All about Dinosaurs!

Our new Science Seed Pod will explore the world of dinosaurs. We will become animal behavior specialists discovering how dinosaurs’ looks reflected what was on the menu for dinner. We will study the different types of dinosaurs, including new and exciting information about swimming and flying reptiles. We will learn about the science of technology and what trackways can tell us. Finally, using our new knowledge, we will illustrate a Jurassic tale using dinosaur footprints.

Hope you can join us as we dive, fly, and stomp our way to discovering the fun in science!

Science Pod#2: Bubbleology, The Science of Bubbles

Our new Science Seed Pod will focus on the science of soap films and bubbles. Ever wonder why bubbles are round? Do you think you can ever blow a bubble that is not round? This seed pod will include an easy three-ingredient recipe for making bubble soap. Our experiment will explore what type of soap will make the biggest bubbles. Ideas for more experiments will include homestyle bubble blowers, how to make bubble-friendly surfaces for better bubbles, keeping bubbles aloft, and how to amaze your friends by predicting exactly when a bubble will pop. You will also find out how you can go inside a bubble! Hope you can join us as we lift off to discover the fun in science!
